Freelancing With Us has come a long way over the last few months. The site is still less than  a year old but we have hundreds of articles across dozens of subjects and its getting bigger everyday. I promised to make some big changes when that happened and I have! FWU now has a brand new freelancing and writing forum, we have a few more writers onboard and were also looking to create more opportunities for other writers. Freelancing Forum and Writing Forum In the early days I fielded a lot of questions on Facebook, Twitter and through the sites contact forms. The purpose of Freelance With Us and The Online Writers Companion was that a freelance writer (or any other freelancer) would find all of the advice they needed without any additional help. But as soon as the promotions started, the questions were quick to follow, often before they looked at the site. Unfortunately, I just didnt have the time to keep answering these questions. I understand that a first-time freelancer might need some additional help or reassurance though. So, with a little help from the sites developers, writers and editors, we have launched the Freelance With Us forum. You can use this to ask any question that you want. You can put your questions direct to the writers; ask the community; or just chat with fellow writers and freelancers. To see the forum, just click the link in the header or visit Freelancing.Community. The forum  has a series of ranks, with different permissions at each one. You will find more details regarding the rules in the forum itself. You can also ask one of the mods if youre not sure. Here is a quick rundown: Readers: This is the rank you are given when you first sign-up. You cant use the private messaging system or signatures and your posts will need to be approved. Freelancers: Once you have half a dozen approved posts approved then you will move to this rank. At this point your posts will be added instantly. It wasnt easy keeping the content flowing though so I hired a few others. I struggled to find reliable writers in those early days. Only half a dozen have been published on  the site, but Ive trialled 30+ behind the scenes. These days I have two very reliable writers who have published hundreds of articles on the site and who will also be active in the forum. Im also still willing to work with new writers. There is a Write for Us section on the site where you can submit your ideas, but this hasnt been used as I hoped it would. I left the submissions in the hands of a few editors and over the past year they have received hundreds of submissions from people who have submitted  work but havent  leave a name, bio or email address. They have also sifted through countless gambling articles, cookery articles, articles on film, music, and even politics. None of these were  any good to us. And  because there were no contact details, we couldnt respond to the writers  that did get it right. A few weeks ago we  fine-tuned the Write for Us page  to make sure we were clear about what we do and what we want (and so nothing could be submitted without contact details) but we were still getting irrelevant content. So, to make things easier were going to give preferential treatment to anyone who has the Writer rank  on the forum. You can still submit articles through the Write for Us page, but it will likely take weeks for them to be reviewed. By going through the forum you will have a better idea what we are  about. Poverty is a vicious cycle, trapping people and families for generations. The inability to escape poverty is due in part to difficult class mobility in the U.S. but also because certain factors reinforce the idea and state of poverty. Bryan Stevenson’s bestseller Just Mercy, Lindsey Cook’s article â€Å"U.S. Education: Still Separate and Unequal†, Michelle Alexander’s excerpt â€Å"The Lockdown†, and Sarah Smarsh’s â€Å"Poor Teeth† all explore the idea of poverty and the systems that sustain it. While all four readings focus on poverty differently and explore it using different techniques, they all share similar big pict ure ideas about how poverty is fortified through systematic, societal, and psychological efforts. But Noni's designs, price and quality was much appreciated by the residents and in spite of the competition she was able to grow. Analysis of the reasons for recent slump in business showed that it was because of the e- commerce. After the advent of the internet, people were exposed to a lot of online sources, it was easier for people to buy new and used wedding gowns at very competitive prices. Though Noni believed that her gowns were of better quality compared to those sold online for the same prices as hers, the preference of people to buy online has increased. Hence, Noni has to devise a strategy to survive this competition from the virtual stores. Until now, Noni was concerned about the tastes and preferences of her immediate community which was her market. Also she was taking into account only the competition of her neighboring stores. But now anybody from across the world who has the taste to design gowns can start an online business and can steal a customer from Noni. Also, another factor which Noni has to consider is that, because of the advent of the information technology, consumers are flooded with information. People can easily access to fashion and trends in the major fashion capitals and they are very knowledgeable about the technicalities of making a dress. Hence, the expectation of the consumers has increased a lot. They compare the designs and costs from various shops not only in the neighborhood but also in US or in Europe and they know whether they are getting a deal or not. Hence, to survive and grow in this kind of an environment is a real challenge for Noni and her Best Bride. Survival strategy The strategy Noni thought about is that she wanted to carryout and extensive market research covering her whole neighborhood, but the dependency of the business on her and her financial conditions did not permit that. Instead she listed the strengths of Best Bride. These strengths were the factors which made her business grow in the first place.
